The record set by Britney Spears at Los Angeles' Staples for most shows performed at the venue to the same artist was broken by Mexican rockband, Maná, last week.

Britney Spears performed in eight concerts in her career so far, but on Thursday, April 19th, Maná broke the record by playing at L.A.'s renown venue for the ninth time.

The record was further broken by the same band who returned to the Staples Center to play on the 20th and will once again establish a higher record of 11 performances at the Staples Center when they throw another show on the 25th of April.

The name of the tour, "Drama y Luz(Drama and Light)" represents the Band's 2011 album with the same name and includes songs such as "Lluvia al Corazón(Rain to the heart)" and "El Espejo."

All of Maná's 11 performances at the Staples Center were sold-out shows and this marks an unprecedented record for the venue.

The three-decade-old Mexican has earned various awards including four Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, and nine Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Their album from the 90's, "¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños?" is the best selling Spanish rock album of all times.

Alex Gonzalez, the band's drummer, said that Los Angeles is the "Spanish rock capital of the world," according to Reuters.

Maná will be touring various cities across the United States in 2012 including San Diego, Oakland, Denver, Phoenix, El Paso, San Antonio, Corpus Christ, and Miami with the last tour date on May 11.
