Earlier this month, we saw Microsoft cut the current price of its Surface Pro 3 by $100. One can get the 64 GB Intel Core i3 model for only $699 and the 512 GB Intel Core i7 model for only $1,849. These price cuts have been associated with the possible imminent arrival of its successor, the rumored Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

While many news outlets and fans had this notion in mind, Product Reviews thinks differently, saying that the price cuts "do not constitute early Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release." It added that Microsoft's reasons behind the generous price cuts are unclear as of the moment but it does not necessarily mean that they would move the predicted summer release of the Surface Pro 3's successor to an earlier date.

The assumptions that the next Microsoft laplet would come out earlier than expected came from The Motley Fool which previously reported that the new Microsoft laplet may be released this February or the following month. It claimed that the new device, which is expected to be just an enhanced version of its predecessor, would be short-lived since very little changes and improvement would be seen in it. Specifically, the only improvement expected is the processors. It has been reported that the device would get the new Broadwell chips, an upgrade from its predecessors' Haswell processors. There are also rumors of it being LTE-capable.

Another interesting rumor is that the new laplet would probably be available in two sizes -- a 13-inch or 14-inch one and a smaller 8-inch version to compete with Apple's iPad Mini. There are also speculations that it would get its RAM upgraded to 16GB, double of what the current Surface Pro 3 has to offer.

Meanwhile, Kdramastars reported citing an image leaked on 4Chan that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 would be out in the market this July. The source, only identified with the username "Anonymous," also revealed that the laplet would be unveiled this March at the Game Developers Conference in California. "[T]hey will use that (Surface Pro 4) and a gaming PC plus an Xbox to show how powerful Windows 10 and DX12 is," the source added.

Coming out in October?

Suggesting a much later date for the product, Tech Radar on the other hand predicts that the new laplet would be launched this October, the month when the Windows 10 is expected to come out. It noted that there are speculations that the laplet would be the first to get the OS pre-loaded. The Fuse Joplin, meanwhile, thinks the Surface Pro 4 would be out "sometime towards the end of this year or early next year."
