Reports are surfacing that pop star Katy Perry is planning to throw a divorce party on what would have been the second anniversary of her wedding to ex Russell Brand.
According to The Sun, a source close to Perry said the performer has been "dreading" Oct. 23 for weeks and has been trying to think of a way to turn it into something positive.
"It's her birthday two days later and the last thing she wanted to do was spend that week depressed and miserable, which would then mean not doing anything to celebrate her birthday," the source said. "Her pals have been persuading her to have a huge party or go to Vegas for a few days but Katy decided on throwing a small gathering at her home."
The source told The Sun Perry will spend the day doing what she loves with her favorite people.
Brand filed for divorce in December 2011, citing the go-to celebrity excuse"irreconcilable differences." The divorce was officially granted in July 2012.
Rumors of troubles in paradise arose when Perry and Brand spend Christmas apart and both were spotted without their wedding rings.
The couple was married on Oct. 23 in Northern India.
