The good news is that "How to Train Your Dragon 3" will still feature Hiccup. The not-so-good one, especially for dragon lovers, is the fact that the winged creatures will be going away in the third installment.

"Just by concept there's something really compelling and emotionally powerful to the idea that this trilogy will complete with the dragons somehow going away, why they went away, and what the mystery is that surrounds that," said director Dean DeBlois, as noted by BreatheCast.

Despite this, the story will still remain "exciting." How so, we're not sure yet. All we know is that there are hints pointing to the Viking hero appearing as an old man in the sequel.

"Stepping into the books, the first line of the third one reads, 'There were Dragons when I was a boy,'" the site added, in case anyone missed the fact that the animated film is based on a book series, also of the same title. "By this time, Hiccup reminisces his adventures with the dragons when he was young. The dragons have reportedly died or disappeared in the sequel."

If that is the case, it's possible that there might be changes to the casting of the upcoming movie, especially with the lead protagonist, which was voiced by actor Jay Baruchel. Well, except if he can do a convincing elderly voice. What is known is that right now, no confirmation has been made yet as to who will be reprising their respective roles in part 3, although it appears Craig Ferguson, who voiced Gobber, may return.

Fox News noted that Craig had ad-libbed a line in "How to Train Your Dragon 2" and unwittingly made his character "come out" in the film.

"I'd written the line 'This is why I never married.' And then he had tagged that on to it," the film's director revealed.

"Ferguson tagged on 'That, and one other reason,' seemingly a reference to gay marriage, which has only recently become legal in several states," the news source said further. "The ad-libbed one-liner will now need to be written into Gobber's role in Part 3, which DuBois says he has just started outlining."

"It does make for an interesting revelation because now, what does that mean, do we shed a little more light on Gobber's love life?" the director speculated.

Meanwhile, ComingSoon said that "How to Train Your Dragon 3" - which will drop in theaters on in June 2017 - will still star Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, with Cate Blanchett returning to reprise her role as Hiccup's mother Valka. America Ferrera will also still voice Astrid.
