‘Fringe’ fans are in for the ride of their lives with the final season premiere this Friday set to feature a reunited Fringe Division in 2036 as they work to rid the world of the Observers.

Fans will be transported into the future, where Observers have enslaved humanity for over 20 years and the Fringe team is just being released from the amber that has kept them secretly alive.

Set in 2036, the final season follows the just-reunited Fringe Division as they attempt to rid the world of Observers, who enslaved humanity in 2016. According to TV Guide, audiences will learn right away why the Observers destroyed and took over planet Earth and how the Fringe team can defeat them.

Unfortunately the Observers will discover the Fringe team’s presence fairly quickly, TV Guide reported, forcing them to unleash their own Fringe events. But there will be some heartwarming moments in during the last season, promises actor John Noble (Dr. Walter Bishop).

After witnessing the reunion of Peter (Joshua Jackson) with his grown daughter Etta (Georgina Haig) during episode 19 of season four, fans can now expect a mother-daughter reunion between Etta and her mother Olivia (Anna Torv).

Torv’s character was suspiciously missing from episode 19, but she is alive, reported TV Guide. According to TV Guide, Olivia has been “acquired” by someone very familiar to fans. When she reunite with Etta, and love interest Peter, has not been confirmed.

Noble also told TV Line the show will definitely tie up loose ends during its final season, “Walter is the man who started this, so there has to be resolution. There has to be redemption.”

“We also have to see the final maturing of the relationship between Peter and Olivia, because it has been so difficult for them and we want them so much to be with each other,” Noble added.

‘Fringe’ season five premieres on September 28 at 9 p.m EST on FOX.
