Sony announced on Wednesday that a collection of all three Assassin's Creed games staring Ezio Auditore will be available on November 13 for $39.99, exclusively for PS3. Known as Assassin's Creed: Ezio Trilogy, the compilation will give players the opportunity to re-experience Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin's Creed: Revelations in one neat package that includes all of the DLC.

The premise behind Assassin's Creed is ripe for telling the life stories of its cast of characters, as the current protagonist Desmond can access the totality of his ancestors' memories with the help of a machine known as the animus. The franchise limited its narrative to Ezio's story for three installments, and used the Renaissance assassin's story to compliment the overarching storyline. Now that Ezio's storyline has concluded and developer Ubisoft has moved on to Assassin Creed 3's new protagonist, Connor, the Renaissance storyline will no longer push the story forward. It is as if preserved in amber. As such Ezio's Trilogy is just one snapshot of an ever-growing franchise that will likely span a number of different eras populated with varying main characters for the foreseeable future.

Ezio's Trilogy will launch two weeks after the much-anticipated Assassin's Creed III, which releases on October 30. The third official installment of the series takes place during the American revolutionary era, and cast gamers in the role of a half-European, half-Native American assassin who takes part in the everlasting war against the Templars.

Playstation Vita owners will be happy to know that Assassin's Creed III Liberation releases on the same day as Assassin's Creed III for consoles.
