Kurt Cobain and his band, Nirvana, was the voice of their generation. At such a young age, fame and fortune took over his life in a depressive spiral. Kurt Cobain was an enigma, and next year, HBO is releasing a documentary based on the life of the young legend, which, according to Billboard, is to be titled "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck."

For the first time ever, Cobain's family finally authorized a documentary about the life of the Nirvana frontman, with his daughter, Frances Bean Cobain as the executive producer. With the cooperation of his family, the documentary will include home movies, recording, artwork, photography, and materials from his personal and family archives. The film will also feature many songs from his band, Nirvana, and some previously unheard originals.

At the helm of the film is the Oscar-nominated Brett Morgen, who started working on the project many years ago. He said in a press release via Time Magazine, "I started work on this project eight years ago. Like most people, when I started, I figured there would be limited amounts of fresh material to unearth. However, once I stepped into Kurt's archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies, and over 4000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media."

"Montage of Heck" may not be the first film about Nirvana's frontman, but it's the first to have support from Cobain's family. Other works exploring his life include Gus Van Sant's "Last Days" and a controversial documentary called "Kurt and Courtney" from back in 1988.

Cobain committed suicide in 1994, at the age of 27. His fame came from the brand of rock music with themes like social alienation, making him the voice of Generation X in the early 1990s. He and his band also started the grunge-rock movement that started in Seattle. Twenty years after his death in 1994, Reuters noted that Cobain's band, Nirvana, was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The film will be produced by Universal Pictures International Entertainment Content Group, with his daughter, Frances as an executive producer. "Montage of Heck" will be released sometime in 2015.
