Motorola has rolled out the latest Google release, Android 5.0 Lollipop, on a number of its handsets, including the second-generation Moto X and Moto G, Ecumenical News reported.

Motorola made the announcement about the Android Lollipop update on its official blog on Nov. 12, Wednesday.

"Get ready for something sweet! Android 5.0, Lollipop is officially here for some of our Motorola devices!" the blog post confirmed. It also mentioned updates for second generation devices, such as Moto X Pure Edition, Moto G US GSM, and Moto G Global SSM retail versions.

Motorola called it its "most ambitious release yet" in the blog post, and introduced enhancements from Google. There is a new Material Design that showed off a bold, new visual style with new colors, typography and edge-to-edge imagery; new Downtime and Interruption settings that allowed users to check the notifications straight from the lock screen of their phones; and a Guest mode for those who shared their devices, limiting the access of other users, such as children, into particular apps.

Some other updates, according to Motorola, include the new flashlight lettings, which could be accessed by swiping down with two fingers, and a change in the battery settings that showed an estimation of how much battery life remained in the device. Users could then enable a battery saver mode to save power.

The Moto G is equipped with a 5-inch screen with a 720x1280 resolution, a rear camera with 8MP and a front camera of 2MP. It also an internal storage of 8GB and 1GB RAM, according to Ecumenical News. The Moto X, on the other hand, has a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen with 1280x1080 resolution, a rear camera of 13MP, a front camera of 2MP, and has a 2GB RAM.

Motorola also announced back in October through their blog that Android Lollipop will be available in devices other than the Moto X and G, such as the Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini.

The update is being rolled out in phases, however, and users will need to await a system update message in their notifications to know if they are eligible for the update, according to Android. Users can also perform a manual check if they want to by choosing Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check Now.

Motorola also launched a tracking page that allows their customers to check when the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is available on their particular phone. It is constantly being updated with information about the process of future upgrades.
