Have you ever been the subject of your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend's discussions in your social circles, with your former lover openly reminiscing all the what could have been scenarios if you two ended up together? This might be straight out of a rom-com movie, but in real life, it sounds freaky and awkward. Ask Hilary Duff.
The singer-actress trended online when Aaron Carter, Hilary's ex-boyfriend, decided to declare his undying love for her on Twitter. He wrote in a post in March this year, "Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me..."
A fan asked the singer-turned reality star if he was referring to Hilary and the answer was yes, Buzzfeed noted.
He responded, "I'll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don't care what ANY of you think."
When the viral news site interviewed Hilary in Sydney, Australia, the actress was taken aback when asked about Aaron's public declaration of love, "(laughs) I was not expecting this question. He does, I keep seeing that, that he keeps doing that. I don't know how I feel. I mean, that was so long ago, and obviously I'm still married, and I have a baby and we kind of just... don't know each other. So, yeah..."
US Weekly said that Hilary is still married to husband of three years, retired hockey player Mike Comrie. The couple publicly announced their split in January, but their close relationship remains. They've been spotted out and about with their 2-year-old boy, Luca.
Despite the breakup, Hilary said that she and her husband actually care for each other, and that she or Mike has yet to file for a divorce.
In a recent interview with Kyle and Jackie O KIIS 1065 show on Wednesday, she said, as quoted by Daily Mail, "We're uncoupled for now...I talk about this so much and I don't want to talk about this any more. But I spoke with him [Mike] this morning, we really care a lot about each other.
"When we were trying for a baby we weren't, 'We have to have a baby right now.' We were laid back...Whatever happens, happens. Once we're tired of doing this, we'll make a choice. We just don't really care what anyone thinks. We're being totally honest about it. My life is so up for grabs everyone knows everything."
We can all assume that Aaron doesn't have a chance with Hilary, as it is safe to say that the actress might give her marriage another go.
