Floyd Mayweather Jr. is perhaps one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the whole world. But his upcoming match in court could be a fight that he may not win.
On Thursday, the unbeaten welterweight world champion was slapped with a lawsuit by his former fiancee, the Los Angeles Times reported. Shantel Jackson is "seeking damages and alleging invasion of privacy, assault, battery and defamation," "false imprisonment and civil harassment," with the help of high-profile lawyer Gloria Allred, the news site reported.
According to Jackson, in a report by TMZ, Floyd was abusive in the relationship, and Mayweather allegedly, started to harass her in 2012, following his release from jail for domestic violence charges involving another woman.
The lawsuit reportedly reveals that "He twisted [her] arm, choked her and forcibly took her phone away from her to look through it" and in another argument in 2013, Mayweather allegedly "bent her arm, restrained her, and pointed a gun at her foot, asking 'Which toe do you want me to shoot?'"
It was also alleged that Mayweather used his gun to force Jackson to remove her 17-carat diamond engagement ring which she received from the boxer himself.
Jackson, TMZ added, is also claiming that Mayweather took photos of her sonogram and proceeded to post them on his social media accounts, saying that Jackson "killed our twin babies."
Fox Sports reported that "Mayweather served two months in jail in 2012 after pleading guilty to reduced domestic battery charges stemming from a hair-pulling, arm-twisting attack on his former girlfriend, Josie Harris, while two of their three children watched."
Mayweather's camp was relatively silent when both the LA Times and TMZ tried to contact the boxer for comment.
In a press conference, Jackson read a statement while she showed obvious distress at the ordeal. She said, "I loved Floyd deeply, but he continued to disappoint and intentionally hurt me. ... I have been embarrassed and humiliated more than I can ever imagine by Floyd, whom I once called my best friend and fiancée. It was with a heavy heart that I finally realized the only way to set the record straight and achieve justice for what he has done to me, is filing this lawsuit."
