As fans worry about her absence on the movie's posters for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1", it was a relief that Lionsgate finally released a poster featuring the actress as lead heroine Katniss Everdeen.
The poster did not have Lawrence facing the camera. Instead, the poster showed the actress's back in full battle gear, showing accents of her costume in its full glory. There was the unmistakable bow and arrow Katniss is known for, and is also sporting the signature braid we've come to love since the first film. But what's really exciting is the wings aspect of her costume, which was fashioned like a cape. The wings are a nod to her Mockingjay symbol which, in the fictional Capitol universe, is a sign of rebellion from Panem and the evil machinations of President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Does this mean that Katniss has finally accepted her role as District 13's symbolic leader?
Buzzfeed recalled that in the latest sneak preview for the movie, a dazed Lawrence is seen wandering around what could be a holding area for wounded District citizens. The trailer showed how some have doubted Katniss and if she can able to lead the rebellion after the games. But the poster, as Hypable observed, was more uplifting, and promised a more stronger Katniss. The poster came with the tagline "I Am. I Will." which is what Katniss had said in the same scene in the teaser trailer.
The image was more than enough to erase her recent travails with an anonymous hacker who posted incriminating photos of her on the Web. Radio Times said that she and about a hundred other female celebrities have fallen victim to the 4chan hacker who had published personal photos of them for profit.
But if there's one thing powerful about the "Hunger Games" star, it is that scandal or no scandal, she is a formidable box office force on her own. Starring in the franchise was a record feat, as Guinness World Record had just named her as the highest grossing action movie heroine to date. Radio Times said that her two films in the franchise has picked a total of £928 million in worldwide box office. "Catching Fire" alone also had the "highest-grossing post-apocalypse movie" to date at £519,711,000 in worldwide box office.
