The balance has been altered yet again in the CONMEBOL World Cup 2014 Qualifications table after Friday's matches.

The day got off to a torrid start as the Colombians destroyed Uruguay 4-0 with two goals in the opening two minutes of each half. Superstar striker Radamel Falcao scored in the second minute and then Teofilio Gutierrez added goals in the 47th and 52nd minute to open up the game. Juan Camilo Zuniga added the icing on the cake in the 90th minute to put Colombia in the top five on the table.

Ecuador continued their solid qualification campaign with a 1-0 win over Bolivia that should have been a 3-0 or 4-0 win. Felipe Caicedo scored in the 74th minute on a penalty kick to relieve the Ecuadorians who generated chances time and again, but were unable to finish.

Argentina gave Paraguay their latest nightmare in a 3-1 win that made the Guaranis continue to plummet in the standings. Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria got the scoring started in the 3rd minute before Paraguay answered with a 17th minute penalty goal from Jonathon Fabbro. But the tie was not meant to last as Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain gave Argentina the definitive lead in the 30th minute before superstar Barcelona striker Lionel Messi added the clincher in the 64th minute. The win propelled Argentina to the top of the standings while Paraguay dropped to last place.

In the final match of the day, Peru picked itself out of the cellar with two goals from Jefferson Farfan in the 47th and 59th minute in a 2-1 win over Venezuela. The Venezuelans got a goal from Juan Arango in the 43rd minute but dropped out of the top five in the standings.
