No wonder she's called Queen. MTV just recently announced that Jay Z's superstar wife will be performing at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards AND she will receive "the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the VMAs' highest honor."

According to MTV, this award "has been presented to exemplary musicians who have made an incredible and long-lasting impact on pop culture."

"In years past, this award has gone to Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Madonna, and, of course, the King of Pop," the music channel continued. "Not many singers have the power or ability to command such a massive legion of fans, drop a number one album out of literally nowhere and take the world by storm tour after tour."

"Queen Bey seems to do it with ease and at the same damn time," the site added. "Thanks to her never-ending supply of unique, original videos and ridiculously powerful pipes, Beyoncé has proved time and time again that she is the standard to which all other performers must measure up."

CNN also noted that the ceremony may turn into "MTV's Beyonce Awards," considering the fact that the "Drunk in Love" singer leads this year's nominees with eight nods.

"Beyoncé is nominated for awards in eight categories this year, including Video of the Year for the 'Drunk in Love' clip she made with her husband Jay Z," Rolling Stone noted. "The other categories she's nominated in include Best Female, Best Collaboration, Best Video With a Social Message, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Choreography and Best Direction."

Bey won't be the only performer at the annual awards show, of course. Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Usher, and 5 Seconds of Summer will also be taking the stage on August 24 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

The 32-year-old diva has been the subject of entertainment headlines for the past months. Aside from rumors of a rocky marriage, she also "caused a stir last weekend when she released a Nicki Minaj-assisted remix to her song 'Flawless,' where the singer raps and references the leaked elevator video of her sister Solange attacking Jay Z," AP said.

Currently, Beyonce is on tour with her rapper husband, Jay Z. Their 21-date "On The Run" tour will be wrapping up its North American dates this week and will bow out with a two-show gig in Paris next month and more than $100 million in ticket sales, as noted by Forbes.

"These sorts of numbers are only possible because of their incredible synergy as performers and business people," the finance and business news site observed. "Together, though, they're grossing about $5 million a night. Whether it's the chance to see the two stars on a tour unlike any they've undertaken or the voyeuristic interest in seeing the couple onstage together, audiences have been streaming into stadiums around the country at rates much greater than they would to see both acts individually."

This only gives Bey more reasons to imperiously intone "Bow down" to fans and followers.
