Johnny Depp may seem to be busy with his other movie projects, but the actor is never too busy for the fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean".
The A-list actor and father of two is reportedly going to Puerto Rico later this year to shoot "Dead Men Tell No Tales," another sequel to the successful "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, according to MTV.
Until now, the release date of the latest sequel remains a mystery, although reports say that the movie will probably open some time during the summer of 2016. However, it has since been reported that filming will begin at the end of this year, as noted by The Daily Mail.
"Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg told Deadline they will be shooting Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 - titled Dead Men Tell No Tales - in both Puerto Rico and New Orleans 'at the end of the year,'" the British online publication said. "Johnny is set to return as Captain Jack Sparrow. Geoffrey Rush is locked in as Barbosa and Keith Richards will reprise his role as Captain Teague."
It's also been previously reported that the delay in the film's release is due to the fact that the script has not yet impressed the big guys behind the movie. Aside from that, as detailed by Kpop Starz, it also appears that an important production component may cause even further delay.
"The pirate ship-built in 1948 in Finland-was on its way for repairs when it sank. The captain and the nine-member crew escaped unharmed," the entertainment news source revealed. "Fans of the 'Pirates of the Carribean' series would recognize the sunk ship as The Henrietta in 'The Curse of the Black Pearl' and the Terrasaw in 'Dead Man's Chest' and 'At World's End.'"
Will "Pirates 5" be delayed until 2017? Will it ever be filmed? Will it get a theatrical release?
All these questions may trigger pangs of worry among fans of the series, although repeated reassurances from producer Jerry Bruckheimer seem to help assure the public that yes, Captain Jack Sparrow and the rest of the gang will indeed be seen on the silver screen once more.
"It's hopefully moving forward. Johnny is excited about it, obviously Disney is, we're excited about it. So hopefully we'll get that going this fall or end of the year if everything lines up properly," Bruckheimer was quoted as saying.
