The KD VI "What The" may be one of the coolest kicks ever to come out of the Nike factory.

Those who love funky, quirky fashion will enjoy the fact that these babies come in delightfully (yet stylishly) mismatched pairs.

First introduced on April Fool's Day, these had got people wondering whether the sportswear giant was pulling everyone's legs with the KD 6. "Mismatched shoes in technicolor? Are they out of their mind???" you must have thought.

As the weeks passed, we all realize Nike is for real about these shoes. And it's great to see the company proving, once again, that they know how to inject fun into their products and make it even look cool. Don't you just like how apt the name of these kicks is?

Nike explained what inspired it to create these unique footwear in its blurb on the official site:

"Kevin Durant's ascension to one of the world's top athletes comes as no surprise to Nike Basketball, who signed Durant in 2007. His relentless work ethic, humility and drive to be the best never waver."

"His journey inspired the KD VI shoe, originally launched with an event at Durant's childhood rec center, the Seat Pleasant Activity Center, which he still views as his home away from home."

"The new KD VI 'What The KD' melds 35 graphics and colors from all the past KD VI colorways. From the Maryland blue crab-inspired Swoosh, to the floral graphic of his late Aunt Pearl's robe, this new shoe captures KD's personal stories all in one."

That's a lot of design details. Despite this, they managed to cram all of them in one colorific, psychedelic-looking pair of basketball shoes, which sells at $150 on the Nike site.

Originally slated for a May 31 release, the KD VI launch was postponed to June 14, Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

These babies will also be available on Footlocker.com this weekend starting at 8:00 a.m. EDT. However, there's a "sweepstakes ticket procedure" that buyers should follow to get a pair of KD 6. The tickets will be released Wednesday, June 11, and Thursday, June 12. Check out this site if you want to know whether the nearest Foot Locker will carry these Nike models and whether they are implementing the said sweepstakes ticket arrangement.
