British-Aussie actress Naomi Watts, who was last seen in "Diana," is now part of the "Divergent" cast, along with Theo James and Shailene Woodley, The Hollywood Reporter announced.

"The actress, who recently committed to star in Gus Van Sant's 'Sea of Trees' opposite Matthew McConaughey, is joining the cast of Divergent sequel 'Insurgent' as Evelyn, leader of the Factionless," THR said. "Watts' deal calls for her to co-star in the futuristic franchise's two final movies, which are based on Veronica Roth's YA novel Allegiant, the last book in the trilogy."

The 45-year-old actress will apparently jump right into action as filming for the sequel had begun last week in Atlanta. The rest of the original cast, including Kate Winslet, Ansel Elgort, and Miles Teller, have returned for the next installment. However, Watts is not the only new addition to the said roster - Oscar awardee Octavia Spencer is also said to be joining the cast.

"Insurgent" has a new director though. Neil Burger, who directed "Divergent", has been replaced by Robert Schwentke. Perhaps the producers/film studio wanted a different creative vision or direction for the sequel?

The "Divergent" franchise is based on Veronica Roth's series of novels written for a young adult audience. The second installment will show "Tris as she deals with her inner demons and continues to battle the powerful alliance that threatens to topple her society," The Daily Mail noted. "As Evelyn is described in the books as middle-aged with black curly hair, black eyes and olive complexion, one wonders what the make-up and hair department has in store for the blue-eyed, fair-haired Aussie."

Indeed, this will get fans reacting to the casting and making their sentiments known on social media. Will a Naomi-Evelyn meme be coming soon?

Filming is expected to finish in September this year and is slated to be released in the U.S. on March 20, 2015.
