After the recent success of WrestleMania XXX, much anticipation has circulated around WWE Payback 2014. The big event features a number of marquee matches and exciting signature moves from well-known and upcoming stars.
In an article on Bleacher Report, WWE Payback 2014 is set on June 1, 2014 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. It will be the second time that the event will be shown on pay-per-view. A pre-show will also be provided to keep WWE fans updated with previous stories leading up to "Payback". There will be promotional videos and story recaps to fill in the void for the audience.
Some of the battles to expect include John Cena and Bray Wyatt in a rubber match using the rules of "Last Man Standing". Sheamus and Bad News Barrett are expected to face their long time foes. El Torito will fight Hornswoggle in a "Mask vs. Hair" battle. If El Torito loses, he has to take his mask off. If Hornswoggle loses, his head will be shaved.
Daniel Bryan, current WWE World Heavyweight Championship titleholder, has to choose between keeping the title and his wife. Stephanie McMahon gave Bryan an ultimatum to either surrender the championship belt or have Brie Bella fired.
Previously, Triple H tried to reveal the weaknesses of The Shield when they were forced to fight individually. Evolution's goal in the meantime is to isolate members of The Shield. Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista also needs to stay together if they wish to avoid getting ganged on by The Shield.
A report by SB Nation provided an update on the match card and lineup for 2014 WWE Payback. The list featured Evolution vs. The Shield in a "No Holds Barred Elimination", Paige vs. Alicia Fox for the Divas championship and Bad News Barrett vs. Rob Van Dam for the Intercontinental championship.
To watch via pay-per-view, fans will have to pay a $9.99 subscription fee. Monthly special events such as Payback are included in the fee, aside from Main Event and NXT episodes every week.
