The movie prequel's producers Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler claim that Red Granite Pictures has allegedly been funded with "monies that include proceeds from unlawful activities," reports Deadline.

The outlet cites a 25-page document with allegations reading:

"Defendants have engaged in a pattern of racketeering activity, in that they have engaged in multiple financial transactions within the United States - including financing of 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' and then separately financing 'Dumb And Dumber To' - with knowledge that the property involved represented the proceeds of unlawful activity and with knowledge that the transactions were designed to conceal the nature, location, source, ownership, or control of the proceeds of the illegal activity."

According to CinemaBlend, Krevoy and Stabler's proof with regards to the allegations against Red Granite Pictures has not yet been revealed. The outlet speculates that the claim might have an end goal of pressuring Red Granite into making them part of "Dumb and Dumber To." "And by that we mean the profits of 'Dumb and Dumber To,' which has already wrapped production," says CinemaBlend.

Red Granite Pictures has issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the allegations, saying:

"These false, malicious and baseless allegations are demonstrably untrue, and Red Granite looks forward to the prompt dismissal of these claims. Not surprisingly, given they have no facts to back up their accusations Messrs. Krevoy and Stabler resorted to rank speculation and innuendo. There is simply nothing to these naked allegations."

"Dumb and Dumber To" is due out in theaters November 2014. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne. The "Dumb and Dumber" sequel is set 20 years after the original movie and tells the story of the characters' search for their long lost children in the hope of getting a kidney.
