Simon Cowell met his present partner, Lauren Silverman, as the wife of one of his best friends.

Although he's happy with what came out of his relationship, the 54-year-old told the Mirror UK that he "regrets" betraying his good friend Andrew Silverman when he began a relationship with Lauren.

In the interview, Simon recalls his low in 2013 and bout of depression when he was so focused on work. Cowell told Mirror, "You are always looking for the next high from the show and then actually if you haven't got anyone to share it with per se, or if you haven't got a family around you, you can go a bit nuts."

The brains behind "Britain's Got Talent" continues he regrets that Lauren, 36, was still married to another man when they started their family, "I regret that part. But then of course you have a baby and you look at the baby and you kinda go 'This is what happened from it... it is not something I am proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone. It just happened."

However, Simon shares that his relationship with Lauren is now very wonderful because she supports his career. She supports what he does and gives valuable insights. The music mogul says he's got his "mojo back again."

The "X-Factor" judge has been open about his apprehensions on being a father and settling down with a family but he has changed since having Lauren and his son.

"My life has changed, but I am probably more focused on what I am doing now than I was a year ago. Maybe because it puts things in perspective having two people in my life who I am responsible for. ... Now the house is full of people, it has become a home rather than a house." Simon admits he's ready to take the responsibility for what has happened and accept the criticism but his life has changed for the better, reports Fox News.

The pair now resides in Cowell's home located in West London where they co-parent their son, Eric, born in February.
