Actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently called time on her 10-year marriage, calling it a "conscious uncoupling" on her Goop website, where she first broke the news of her separation from musician husband Chris Martin.
Many speculations abound regarding the demise of her marriage. Some have alleged that Vanity Fair's attempt at an "epic takedown" of the actress was the last straw, as the said exposé was supposed to reveal her extramarital dalliance with lawyer Kevin Yorn. However, what is known at this point is that the couple admitted they encountered difficulties in their union and tried to work them out. And now, it appears that both have decided they are happier apart.

Despite having an actress for a mother and a film producer/director for a father, Gwynnie got noticed by the public only when she became A-list actor Brad Pitt's fianceé at the age of 24 in the mid-90s. Their relationship lasted 3 years, ending in 1997 when she called off the engagement because she was not ready for marriage at that time.
"My kind of internal stuff really tripped up that whole relationship. And I felt really responsible, and also like I was the architect of my own misery ... I just made a big mess out of it," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying to Diane Sawyer in an interview. "I'm so lucky that I spent time with Brad, somebody who was such a good person! Especially when I was, like, such a mess."

Although the 41-year-old actress said she was "upset" about her breakup with Brad for about 5 years, it didn't stop her from moving on to Ben in 1997. So, does this mean he was merely the rebound love?
"He's got a lot of complication, and you know, he really is a great guy. I just think we have a very different sort of value system," she said of her ex-, who also said that the actress' ideal man would be someone exactly like her own father. No surprise in that, given her constant reference to her dad in her previous interviews. They finally broke up in 2000.
