The wonders of mobile technology seemed to be boundless. A report on IT Pro Portal said that the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone has aided a robot to solve a Rubik's Cube in a little over 3 seconds. The Cubestormer 3 robot was a big success at the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham over the weekend as it successfully broke its own Guinness World Record in 2012 at 5.27 seconds by having the robot solve the colorful puzzle at 3.253 seconds.

See the action in this video clip below.

According to IT Pro Portal, the Galaxy S4 smartphone was equipped with an Exynos 5 Octa application processor and eight-core ARM big.LITTLE implementation. The big.LITTLE implementation featured four ARM Cortex-A15 and four Cortex-A7 processors, which analyses the cube, calculates the correct amount of moves needed to solve the puzzle and instructs the four robotic arms to do the solving. Moreover, the ARM9 processors give power to the eight LEGO Mindstorm EV3 bricks for it to perform control and motor sequencing.

Co-inventor David Gilday, who worked with security systems engineer for Securi-Plex Mike Dobson in the smartphone-powered robot project, said in a statement, "We knew Cubestormer 3 had the potential to beat the existing record but with the robot performing physical operations quicker than the human eye can see there's always an element of risk. In the end, the hours we spent perfecting the robot and ensuring its motor and intelligence functions were properly synchronized paid off. Our big challenge now is working out if it's possible to make it go even faster."

The report follows the news of the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S5, of which Gotta Be Mobile reports suggest that the new smartphone will have features that will quickly dwarf its predecessor. On the other hand, Motoring Crunch believed that the Galaxy S4 still packs quite a punch if you take away the heartbeat sensor and the fingerprint scanner. For individuals who wish to have a Galaxy S5 phone, the tech blog cited AndroidPit, which said that one just needs to change the root settings of your device to specifications to that present on the new smartphone.
