Jenni Rivera is once again in the middle of a controversy. The late singer, one of the Latinos that continue to generate the most income a year after her death, has been accused by the self-defense groups of Michoacán, Mexico, of laundering money for the criminal group "The Knights Templar".
A series of photographs in which the "Diva of Banda" is standing next to Sayonara Gómez and Humber Gómez, who are the children of sough criminal and drug trafficker Servando Gómez, also known as "La Tuta", have been exposed since Monday, Feb. 10 through a video uploaded to the Facebook page of Mexican organization "Valor por Michoacán".
The Facebook page, which is dedicated to denouncing violence and drug trafficking in Michoacán, has not released the name of the video's author which was shortly after uploaded to YouTube, where it quickly got thousands of views.
The seven-minute video shows a series of photographs showing the close relationship Jenni Rivera kept with Sayonara Gómez, who even called Rivera "mother" in many of her Facebook posts.
Part of a concert in Apatzingán in 2011, filmed by Gómez and uploaded to Facebook with the caption "With my mom Jenni Rivera, somewhere" is exposed in the document.
"How could I forget our debuts with mama Jenni every time we arrived at her concerts with her, presented at the best people on the front row. I miss you Jenni" reads one of the comments in another picture uploaded by Gómez, according to The Latin Times.
The video uploaded by "Valor por Michocán" ends with a picture of the cartel leader's children posing with Melissa Plancarte, daughter of another leader of the criminal group.
