Marvel has announced the third installment to "Captain America."
According to Variety, directors Anthony and Joe Russo will be back in the director's chair for a third installment even though the third film has not been greenlit by the studio.
However, Marvel and the Russo brothers have yet to comment or confirm anything.
Negotiations for the third film will reportedly not begin until the second film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is released. Disney has already done test screenings for the movie and according to speculation is very pleased with the strong response. As a result, the studio is moving quickly to get the third film prepared.
A third "Captain America" release date has yet to be decided but since the actors have options for a third installment, a third film is likely to happen.
According to sources, Marvel and the Russos are already putting together an outline of what the third film's story arc would look like and would hire a writer for the movie soon after.
If the third film does happen, Kevin Feige would produce with Chris Evans returning in the title role.
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is slated for release on April 4 and the film will tell the story of Steve Rogers who struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier. The film also stars Scarlet Johansson, Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell, Samuel L. Jackson, and Robert Redford.
