Cobie Smulders will appear in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." According to reports, the popular "How I Met Your Mother" actress has confirmed her appearance in Joss Whedon's next film.

"I'm excited about it. I know everything there is to know, but I'm not saying anything about it - until literally the movie's out on DVD. Then I'll be like, 'Wasn't that a great part?' But I'm very excited. Joss Whedon is the best man on the planet," she stated, according to Comicbookmovie.com.

Smoulders plays Maria Hill, one of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. who played a major role in the first "Avengers" movie. She returned to the role in ABC's TV series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

While Smoulders has confirmed her involvement in "Avengers," she was not as optimistic about her return to the TV series.

"No, I don't know anything about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," she noted. "I've been watching, and I think it's such a great show. They're doing such a wonderful job, but I don't know about my personal involvement."

"The Avengers: Age of Ultron" is slated for a May 1, 2015 release date. The film will look to follow up the efforts of its predecessor, which broke the record for the largest opening and second box office weekend. It will be interesting to see if this new film manages to match the first installment, especially with claims that it is darker and heavier than the first movie.

"It doesn't lose that exciting comic-book aspect that people enjoyed in the first film, but it's smart and it feels like the next installment. It doesn't feel like a rehashing, it feels like these characters are moving forward, plot lines are moving forward," said actress Scarlett Johansson, according top NME. "It's deep and I think that's why people really respond to the Marvel universe, because the films are fun and exciting and have all that flashy stuff, but there's a gravity to them. People can expect that gravity this time around."
