The Detroit Auto Show has showcased many concept cars from many manufacturers. However, while some may end up in showrooms all across the world, some will remain just as they are - concept cars.
Amongst the manufacturers unveiling their "concepts" are Audi, Kia, Nissan and Volkswagen, which would all be at the show opening on January 18.
The SUV market is still the one with the greatest number of participants. USA Today reports that aside from Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo would also be introducing their models in the show.
Volkswagen would be unveiling an SUV concept which would be priced below the Tourag utility, starting at $45,000, reports L.A. Times. According to the Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn, the plan is growth in the market.
"If you want to be successful in the U.S., you have to be in the midsized SUV market," Horn explained.
Another significant unveiling would be from the European front. According to CNBC, Bentley would be introducing its top of the line GT luxury sports coupe, while BMW would unveil two models, the M3 and M4, for 2015. Audi would be revealing an electric car that can reach triple digit mileage, with acceleration of 0 to 60 of sports car levels.
The Audi car is but one of the many green cars that are now dominating car shows such as the one in Detroit. The many forms of green car technology is reportedly present in high performance cars in almost all makes - from the 2015 Ford Mustang to the GT4 Stinger from Kia Motors.
The green touch can be as simple as "lightweighting" the cars, such as what GM has done with its 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with a small battery and the removal of some "non-essentials."
