Quentin Tarantino has announced his next movie's title.
The Western will be called "The Hateful Eight," an obvious nod to the classic film "The Magnificent Seven," which was released in 1960 and was directed by John Sturges. "Magnificent Seven" was adapted from Akira Kurosawa's celebrated "Seven Samurai."
The new Western is slated to feature Christopher Waltz in his third straight role with the director. Waltz won Oscars for his performances in "Inglorious Basterds" and "Django Unchained." Reports indicate that Tarantino wrote a role specifically for Waltz in the film. Bruce Dern, who was also in "Django Unchained," is also in the film, according to Deadline.
"I had so much fun doing 'Django,' and I love Westerns so much that after I taught myself how to make one, it's like 'OK! Let me make another one now that I know what I'm doing,'" Tarantino stated during an appearance on the Jay Leno show a few months ago.
There are no updates on the film's plot thus far and sources are divided on when the director will begin production. Some sources claim that production will start in the summer while others claim that there is no timetable for filming to start.
Tarantino is one of the most popular directors in mainstream Hollywood. His latest film, "Django Unchained," was his highest grossing film with an intake of $162 million; his previous effort, "Inglorious Basterds," was his second-highest hit with a gross of $120 million.
