The Art Directors Guild of America has released the nominees for the Best in Production Design.

The Guild votes on three categories: Period Film, Fantasy Film and Contemporary Film.

The nominees in the period category were "The Great Gatsby," "American Hustle" and "Inside Llewyn Davis." "Saving Mr. Banks" and "12 Years a Slave" rounded out the selected films.

Meanwhile, "Elysium" led the Fantasy Film category with "Gravity," "Oblivion," and "Star Trek Into Darkness," and "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" nominated as well.

The Contemporary category saw "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Her," and "Captain Phillips nominated alongside "August: Osage County" and "Blue Jasmine."

The Art Directors Guild is important because the winner of one of the categories usually ends up going home with the Academy Award. Recent winners include "Anna Karenina," "Skyfall," "Life of Pi," "Hugo," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" and "Alice in Wonderland." "The King's Speech," "Black Swan," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," and "Avatar" were also among the honored films at the Guild.

The Guild's prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award will be given out to director Martin Scorsese ("The Wolf of Wall Street") while the Guild's Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Rick Carter ("Lincoln").

The awards will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, from the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
