Austin Film Critics Winner, Recaps: 'Her' Wins Top Prize

The Austin Film Critics have named Spike Jonze's "Her" as the Best Film of the year.

The movie also went home with the Best Original Screenplay award as well as the Best Song award for the band The Arcade Fire.

The Film Critics also announced a top 10 list that included "12 Years a Slave," "Gravity," "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Short Term 12," "Mud," "Before Midnight," "Dallas Buyers Club," and "Captain Phillips."

Other big winners included Brie Larson who went home with the Best Actress award and the Break-through Arts Award.

Meanwhile, the Best Actor award went to Chiwetel Ejiofor for "12 Years a Slave" and the Best Supporting Actress award went to Lupita Nyong'o for the aforementioned movie. Steve McQueen's film "12 Years a Slave" also won Best Adapted Screenplay for John Ridley.

Jared Leto continued to lead competition claiming yet another Best Supporting Actor prize.

"The Act of Killing" won yet another Best Documentary award while "Frozen" won the Best Animated film.

The Best First Film award went to Ryan Coogler for "Fruitvale Station," while "Before Midnight" won the Best Austin Film of the year.

"Blue is the Warmest Color" continued to win the Best Foreign Film award regardless of the fact that the movie will not qualify for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, "Gravity" won two awards including Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron, and Best Cinematographer from Emanuel Lubezki.

The Austin Film Festival was founded in 2005 and has been doing its best to "Keep Austin Weird." Past winners include "The Dark Knight," "The Hurt Locker," "Black Swan," and "Hugo."
