According to Twitter, the new design for the app will provide a "refreshed look and feel."

"Home, Activity and Discover now available by swiping in Timelines," noted the social network, adding the update provides easier access to DMs.

When it comes to receiving notification for one's network, the app user can now choose to view favorites, retweets, and replies from only the people they are following.

The updated app also features the ability to save web articles with Safari Reading List.

The Twitter app requires 18.9MB of memory and can be installed in iOS 6 and iOS 7 devices. According to iTunes, the app is compatible with Arabic, Bokmål, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish languages.

In other Twitter news, the social media network and seven fellow companies published an open letter addressing the U.S. government's surveillance program. Along with AOL, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and Yahoo!, Twitter requested transparency from the program as securing their users' data is an important element of their business.
