Will Andrew Garfield be replaced as Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man 4?" The actor recently claimed that he was not involved with any Spider-man moves past the third installment of the current trilogy.

"That's all news to me. I mean, I'm under contract for another one after this... as far as a fourth one? That's not anything to do with me," said Garfield, according to IGN.

The second installment of the series is slated for release next summer and is looking to pick up momentum for the franchise after a lukewarm performance from the reboot. The first ever Spidey flick scored $403 million in domestic gross while its sequel took home $373 million; the much-maligned third installment only brought in $336 million.

Sony promptly rebooted the franchise when attempts at making fourth and fifth "Spider-Man" films with former director Sam Raimi fell through. The company cast Garfield to replace Tobey Maguire but the new film only grossed $262 million during its theatrical run.

The new film looks to be packed with a number of supervillains including Rhino, Electro and The Green Goblin, but it could falter in the same manner as the third installment of the first trilogy unless it manages to garner strong press and word of mouth. The first installment in the current series was not loved by critics and ultimately failed to generate buzz. This film needs to pull off a stronger box office performance if the series has any hopes of being prolonged beyond the third installment.

As it stands, Garfield looks like he might be done with playing Spider-Man after the third film. It may be time for Sony to reboot the franchise yet again.
