"Thor: The Dark World" continued to dominate the North American box office over the weekend.

The film scored an exceptional $38.4 million and brought its total gross to $146 million. The film is now on track to make $250 million by the end of its theatrical run. 

In second place, the holiday pick "The Best Man Holiday" surprised and made $30 million in 2,024 theaters for an average of $15,115 per theater. The movie already surpassed its $17 million budget and should continue to do well into the Thanksgiving weekend.

Third place went to "Last Vegas," which scored $8 million and brought its gross to $46.9 million. Meanwhile, "Free Birds" scored fourth place with an estimated $8.3 million and brought its gross to $42 million. Both films are still on track to make $60-75 million.

Oscar hopefuls "Gravity," "12 Year A Slave" and "Captain Phillips" continued to do solid business. "Gravity" made an estimated $6.2 million and brought its gross to $240 million, while "12 Years A Slave" made $4.7 million and brought its total to $24.9 million. "Captain Phillips" made $4.5 million and is up to $97 million.

Meanwhile, "Dallas Buyers Club" was expanded to 184 theaters and brought in $1.7 million. Focus Features will expand the film in the coming weeks.

Paramount released "Nebraska" in four theaters and made $140,000. The film, starring Will Forte and Bruce Dern, scored rave reviews and is slated to be expanded Thanksgiving weekend.

Meanwhile, Shia LaBeouf scored his worst opening ever. His film "Charlie Countryman" made a total of $8,600 in 15 theaters for an average of $573 per theater. The film was released by Millennium Entertainment.
