The Daily Mail reported the tablet in question was the Cupertino-based organization's new iPad Air.

A spokesperson for Vodafone stated the tablet had a "burst of flames" as the tablet was in its charging port on the demonstration panel.

The result of the iPad Air's explosion led to the Vodafone store filled with smoke as sparks were visible from the charging port. The situation was under control following the arrival of firefighters, and Vodafone confirmed no customers or staff member were injured by the incident.

A representative from Apple has reportedly collected the iPad for testing as the cause of the explosion remained unknown. The Cupertino-based organization, however, has not released a statement on the incident.
