Battlefield 4 News: Xbox One Version of Game to Use Kinect Features on Release Date [Trailer]

Battlefield 4 may have been released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC already, but many fans are looking ahead to the release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions to see how well the game fares on next-gen technology. While the PlayStation 4 version will have many different upgrades when compared to the already released versions of the game, the Xbox One port of Battlefield 4 will be unique due to the use of the Kinect, according to a new report from Polygon.

Players using Kinect with the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 will have several moves exclusive to the console. This includes head tracking, which will be used to cause a character to lean out and look past cover. The Kinect executes this by tracking the player's actual head movements. When a player moves their head, the character on screen will look around cover, exposing less of the character's body for attack. Instead of exposing a character completely to see what's coming, players will be able to stick their head and chest out using the controls while remaining behind cover. This could make a huge difference in how the game is played and could woo people over to the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4.

In addition to these motion tracking controls, Battlefield 4 will also have voice commands on the Xbox One. If players are hurt they can ask for a medic by simply yelling out the command. Players can also request ammo and then cancel that order using the voice controls for the Xbox One. Players can also ask for a ride for themselves and their teammates, and even thank the characters that help them with their tasks. While voice commands have appeared in the series before, this is no doubt still an exciting feature that Xbox One owners will be able to take advantage of.

Battlefield 4 will be a launch title for the Xbox One as well as the PlayStation 4. The Xbox One will launch on Nov. 22, while the PlayStation 4 will arrive one week earlier on Nov. 15. Call of Duty: Ghosts will also be a launch title for the consoles, so it will be interesting to see if the Kinect functionality with Battlefield 4 sways fans more towards that game than the competition.
