A few days after being fined $25,000, the Cirque du Soleil has once more become the focus of attention after one of its acrobats had to be hospitalized after he fell during a show in Las Vegas.
According to Reuters, the accident happened on the night of November 1st, during a number called "The Wheel of Death", a part of the "Zarcana" show, when one of the acrobats lost his balance and fell from a wheel towards the stage.
The new accident occurred just days after the state of Nevada imposed a $25,000 fine on Cirque du Soleil for violating safety rules in relation to an accident last June, when Sarah Guillot-Guyard, a 31-year-old artist, had an accident which took her life.
On Friday, June 28, the French acrobat fell from a height of over 49 feet when she performed during the "Ka" show in Las Vegas, reported CNN.
Although the official cause of death was not released, investigations reported that the Cirque du Soleil had given its artists low-quality harnesses, and it was also discovered that they did not have an appropriate protection program, reported Reuters.
Due to Cirque du Soleil's policies, the name of the acrobat has not been made public; however, the company said that the show was stopped and the artist was taken to the University Medical Center, where he was reported as stable, according to Diario MX.
