On the latest episode of "Grey's Anatomy," one doctor faced his past while others tried to deal with the ever-changing present.

On the episode, Leah (Tessa Ferrer) is starting to fall for Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) after their night together eating grilled cheese and dancing after the fundraising gala. But after Alex (Justin Chambers) shares that he slept with Leah a few times and that she was annoyingly clingy, Arizona tries to get out of the situation, and fast.

Leah is heartbroken when Arizona tells her that staying over at her place was a mistake, as is their growing relationship. Arizona feels horrible about the situation.

Owen (Kevin McKidd) has not told his ex Cristina (Sandra Oh) that he and Emma (Marguerite Moreau) are dating, so when Emma meets her, it gets awkward.

Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is angry at Cristina for her comments about being a better doctor than Meredith. To prove her wrong, Meredith becomes obsessed with finding a research project to delve into. While Meredith tries to figure out what to work on, Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) begin work on a brain research study, but they are both not happy with it. Meredith and Derek also talk about their future, namely about how they should find a balance between work and children.

Alex avoids Jo (Camilla Luddington), making her think he is seeing someone else. He tells her that what he is doing is none of her business. It turns out that Alex is seeing someone else: his estranged father. Alex has been frequenting the bar where his father plays the guitar and sings. His dad, Jimmy (James Remar) doesn't recognize Alex. They play a song together, and then Jimmy pulls out a picture, which is a photo of his other family. Alex is heartbroken and infuriated at the news, so he punches him. Jimmy then knows for sure that Alex is his son.

Meanwhile, Meredith takes aim at Cristina after last week's hurtful words. Meredith tells Cristina that she pushes people aside when people do things that Cristina doesn't agree with, such as Meredith having a baby and Owen moving on.

On the next episode, "Thriller," the hospital will get into the Halloween spirit.

The synopsis reads: "It's Halloween and the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial are hit with a barrage of spooky patients, which affects their own plans and puts one doctor's well-being in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Derek collaborates with Ben on a new surgical technique, and Richard angers Bailey when he asks a second year resident to perform his next surgery, on a special Halloween episode of "Grey's Anatomy," THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network."

Grey Sloan will be in for more thrills when the series' fall run comes to an end. Series creator Shonda Rhimes told TVLine that the fall portion of the season "will be ending with a cliffhanger." But Rhimes is tightlipped about spilling any details: "I cannot offer a tease," she said.

Watch the promo for "Thriller" below, which airs Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
