Verizon always seems to be late in providing software updates for its mobile devices, and its Moto X support is no exception. Big Red is finally rolling out a new patch that brings some much-needed camera and connectivity enhancements.
Verizon Moto X owners should begin seeing notices for software update 139.15.1. The patch is basically the same as the ones recently rolled out for Moto Xs on other carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile, meaning that it drastically improves the shoddy quality of the Moto X's camera. Moto X owners can manually check for the update by going to Settings > About device > Software update.
While the Moto X released to much fanfare over its customization and unique features, the camera ran into a brick wall when it came to the quality of the pictures it took. Complaints began flooding in, and in light of the issue, a fix has started to make its way over the airwaves of several major carriers. Verizon update 139.15.1 addresses just that.
According to Verizon, Sky Detection has been improved to lighten dynamic scenes, High Dynamic Range (HDR) has been tuned to fire more frequently, and the viewfinder has been improved for more constant exposure. All in all, these changes add up to a significantly better picture-taking experience.
Other changes include improved data stability and data stall for 3G and 4G LTE connectivity and fixed audio fading during voice calls. The patch also fixes an MMS messaging issue in which the thread goes blank and the option to download files via email.
