Another day, another slew of rumors concerning Android 4.4 KitKat. The latest craze happens to center on the release date, which, depending on what conspiracy you subscribe to, will either be Oct. 18 or Oct. 28.
The latest round of subliminal digging came after a Google Plus KitKat post contained the name of the song "Everybody Dance Now!" released Oct. 18, 1990. This, naturally, set off speculation that Oct. 18 will be the date Google rolls out Android 4.4 KitKat. Bear in mind the Google Plus post concerned the KitKat candy bar from Nestle, not Google's mobile operating system.
As if that wasn't enough, it looks like Nestle's social media branch for KitKat jumped in the fray, releasing a tweet that referenced Michael Jackson's "This Is It" documentary that released Oct. 28, 2009. Now there's a hearty campfire roaring around the idea that Oct. 28 will be Android 4.4 KitKat's release date.
Of course, all of this can seem like the work of over-enthusiastic tech junkies - and it probably is. Android 4.4 KitKat was first rumored for an Oct. 15 unveil, but as that date has come and gone, there's still no official details about the operating system from Google. What is certain is that Google will want to launch Android 4.4 KitKat (and some new devices like the Nexus 5 smartphone) in time for holiday shoppers to get a chance to snag one. Most of the money is on Google doing this sometime in October, although as evidenced by the ridiculous amount of speculation going around, all we we can really say is it should be out before November.
Not much is known about Android 4.4 KitKat except that it will introduce a slightly flatter, more colorful aesthetic to Android and possibly introduce 64-bit support.
