LeBron James recently set his goals for the upcoming 2013-14 NBA season--goals that includes taking the most efficient shots possible in order to give the Miami Heat have a better chance of defending their title.

James' statement fueled speculations that the four-time and reigning Most Valuable Player is looking to shoot at least 60 percent from the field for an entire season.

But when asked in an interview with the Miami Herald about the alleged goal of shooting 60 percent, James said: "I don't really set out goals as far as what I want to shoot from the field. I know I want to take good shots and I know I want to be in attack and if that results in 60 percent then it will be great, but I want to get the best shot for myself and for our team every possession."

While James said that he will not deliberately try to reach that shooting percentage from the field, his Miami Heat teammate believes that the goal is not impossible, considering James' great shooting stretch last season.

The 28-year-old superstar shot 63.2 percent from the field from January 12 to February 26 last season, including the 2013 All-Star break. The impressive shooting streak was the result of James' emphasis on attacking the rim and focusing on his inside game.

Heat forward Shane Battier said that James could shoot better than 60 percent in a whole season, but he should sacrifice a lot by taking the punishment of attacking the rim regularly instead of relying on his perimeter game.

"As long as he's willing to take the punishment of trying to shoot 60 percent, which means a few more rim attacks a game, it's possible," Battier said. "I don't know if he's willing to take the punishment, because that takes a tremendous amount of punishment to shoot that high of a percentage. But if anyone can do it, he can do it."

The Miami Heat went 24-2 last season in games wherein James shot 60 percent or better from the field, with the majority of those wins included in their historic 27-game winning run.
