Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are all scheduled to start their Shanghai Masters campaign on Wednesday, making Day 2 of this ATP Masters 1000 event certainly a must watch.
Nadal vs Dolgopolov (9:00 p.m Beijing Time)
Fresh from regaining the world's no.1 ranking following his finals stint at the China Open, Nadal will try to defend his ground against Djokovic, Federer and the rest of the ATP Tour elites in Shanghai.
Nadal's first assignment won't be an easy one as he's going to take on Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov. Dolgopolov punched his ticket to the next round with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Michael Russell of the United States in the first round.
The 27-year old Nadal and 24-year old Dolgopolov already faced each other thrice with the Spaniard winning all of those matches.
Djokovic vs. Granollers (3:30 p.m Beijing Time)
Meanwhile, Djokovic is also set to kick start his Shanghai Masters defense against Spain's Marcel Granollers, who advanced to the second round following a 6-4, 6-4 upset over former world's no.8 Janko Tipseravic.
Djokovic is coming off a 6-3, 6-4 win over Nadal in the finals of China Open, winning only the second time against the Spaniard this season. However, the win only means the Serb is ready to put pressure on the new world's no.1 as the ATP season enters the homestretch mark.
Federer vs. Seppi (7:00 p.m Beijing Time)
Of course, Federer will be making his men's single debut after playing with China's no.1 Zhang Ze in men's doubles events. Federer will be playing Italy's Andreas Seppi, who pulled the rug off former world's no.1 Lleyton Hewiit 6-4 6-2 on Tuesday.
Other Matches To Watch
Aside from the big matches (Nadal, Djokovic and Federer), other ATP elites will also make their Shanghai Masters debut today. Former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro will play Philip Kohlschreiber, David Ferrer will take on Lukas Rosol, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga battling Pablo Andojar.
