The Los Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship series defeating the Atlanta Braves 4-3 with help from rookie phenom outfielder Yasiel Puig.
Puig doubled off Atlanta starting reliever David Carpenter down the right field line, and scored off Juan Uribe's home run - who fouled two attempted bunts prior to blasting the ball over the left-field wall.
"A huge hit," said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly about Puig's double that sparked Los Angeles' rally. "That put a lot of pressure on them, got the crowd going a little and gave us a shot."
Cy Young candidate Clayton Kershaw, pitching on three days rest, went six innings, allowing two runs off three hits, tossing 91 pitches and striking out six before letting the bullpen finish the job - with reliever Brian Wilson pitching a scoreless eighth inning and closer Kenley Jansen striking out all three batters for the save.
"It was a special night to get to do it here in L.A.," said Kershaw after the game. "We haven't won anything yet, but it definitely feels good to get to celebrate. You never want to pass those moments up."
Atlanta had a 3-2 lead in the seventh after pinch hitter Jose Costanza singled an RBI off reliever Ronald Belisario before giving up the lead to the Dodgers, failing to get star reliever Craig Kimbel the ball to close the door on Los Angeles.
"To end the way it did tonight, it's going to hurt. It's going to be a long way back," said Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez. "But tip your hat to the Dodgers and congratulate Donnie and his staff. The sad thing is there are no more games, you know?"
The Dodgers await the winner of the Pittsburgh Pirates - St. Louis Cardinals NLDS series, - returning to the NLCS for the first since 2009, losing in five games to the Philadelphia Phillies that year.
"It's a great feeling," said Mattingly after the game. "I'm just so proud of those guys in that room that have just kind of stayed together and kept working."
