HTC's been aggressively updating its latest flagship smartphone, the One, in an attempt to keep its its lineup fresh against rivals, but that doesn't mean older devices have been completely forgotten. In fact, owners of the older HTC EVO 4G LTE can expect a new update before the end of 2013.

HTC America president Jason Mackenzie has Twitter abuzz nowadays with his play-by-play of HTC's update schedule, and the executive recently revealed that the HTC EVO 4G LTE would get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 before the end of the year.

While the bit of news should be welcome information for EVO 4G LTE owners, it shouldn't be a huge surprise for those following HTC's announcements. The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer recently revealed that it would be upgrading the HTC One X to Android 4.3 and Sense 5, so there shouldn't have been much doubt that the EVO 4G LTE was getting the same upgrade in the first place. The HTC EVO 4G LTE is essentially an HTC One X with some modified components so that it can run on Sprint's 4G LTE bandwidth.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will bring some much-needed security and performance improvements, but that's about it for the casual user. Other than the tiny modications to the notifications bar and other quick swipe functions, most of Android 4.3's changes lie under the hood. Sense 5, on the other hand, should drastically change the interface experience with the new content-aggregating features like BlinkFeed and Video Highlights.
