It's not Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but Sony Xperia Z owners can now grab a new software update over the air.

Firmware 10.3.1.A.2.74 was recently spotted on the PTCRB website, a good indicator that a patch is ready to be released, and Xperia Z (model C6603) owners are now reporting in that the update has already started rolling out. It's not clear what exact regions are affected, but as usual with over-the-air releases, not everybody will receive it at the same time, as these things tend to happen in batches.

The update is a minor one over 10.3.1.A.2.67, and there don't seem to be any major new features. Some users who found LTE problems after the 10.3.1.A.2.67 are hoping that the 10.3.1.A.2.74 update will fix that, but there's no confirmation.

Many Sony owners are still waiting for an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The device currently runs Android 4.2.2, and many other high-tier smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One are currently in the process of jumping to Android 4.3. Google also just rolled out Android 4.3.1 and the company is rumored to release Android 4.4 KitKat in October.

The 10.3.1.A.2.74 upgrade is also listed on the PTCRB website for the Xperia Tablet Z model SGP321. It's not clear when the tablet will receive the firmware, as the device just recently got bumped up to 10.3.1.A.2.67.
