College. It’s a time for exploration. It’s a time to learn, broaden your intellectual horizons, meet new friends and make lifetime connections that will help you along your prosperous and exciting careers. But lets be honest. It’s a time to explore new romance, make new enemies and engage in unforgettable debauchery, and that’s exactly what the vampires from Mystic Falls have in store. For those dying for an early fix, Candice Accola has got what you need.

In a recent interview with TV Guide, the actress opened up about the new temptations she’ll be faced with at Whitmore College. "We will see other male characters in the series that will be in college and that are good looking. So, there's definitely opportunity for temptation or flirting or whatever young freshman in college do," Accola said. "But Caroline is still holding onto her relationship with Tyler."

At the close of Season 4, Caroline had graduated high school with her favorite and most adoring friends by her side, except of course, for Tyler. Although he did make an appearance at prom night, he hastily left to avoid his enemy Klaus. Then upon Klaus’ departure, he told Caroline that Tyler was free to return to Mystic Falls whenever he pleased. So will he return? And if he does, how will the young couple cope with a long distance relationship, especially with Caroline in such a prone environment.

"They definitely care for each other, but we'll see that things have changed," Accola said. "It does parallel what young relationships go through when they move to college and are in two separate places. You're trying to figure out yourself and your life and your path and trying to meet other people. It's a lot for a relationship to withstand. So, we'll see how long she's able to do that."

“The Vampire Diaries” returns to The CW October 3.
