Apple iPhone owners have encountered a problem with accessing music apps following downloading iOS 7.

As seen on Apple Support Communities, forum member MisterBT posted that he updated to the latest mobile operating system but the music now won't sync.

"I've updated my iPhone 4 and my mac's iTunes - everything syncs fine except for music. I've tried reboots etc. to no avail," wrote MisterBT. "I've tried to sync by playlist, artist, album and genre separately and nothing works with the status bar stuck on "Step 4 of 4" on the preparing bar."

"I'm having the same issue," commented theradiosilence. "All my music from 'the cloud' is available to play from my phone, but all my downloaded music is blank with a square button next to it, although iTunes seems to say that everything is complete, and I have 30GB free on my phone, can't get my music to play!!! Although my phone is the [iPhone] 5."

Fellow Support Communities member aishna9 wrote the same issue occurred with their iPhone 4s with 1.5 hours of synching previously taking place.

A couple solutions were provided, even by the original poster MisterBT.

"To fix it, I simply just unchecked the 'Sync Music' box and it asked if I wanted all my music removed from my device. I clicked yes. Then, check the 'Sync Music' box again and click 'Apply' where 'sync' would normally be," posted BeardOfFlames. "This worked for me after about an hour and a half of pointless frustration. Hopefully it will help you guys!"

MisterBT provided, "In the summary tab of the iPhone deselect everything apart from Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected. I had 'Sync only checked songs and videos' checked and by unchecking this I was able to sync my music just as normal."
