A spoof advertisement on the iOS 7 spread like wildfire and is encouraging iPhone users to destroy their phones - or at least, somehow drown them.

The fake iOS 7 ad was reportedly posted on the online forum, 4chan. According to a report, the forum is known for undertaking campaigns which are geared at hijacking social media in order to trick the public. The fake iOS 7 ad claims that the upgrade will render iPhones waterproof.

"In an emergency, a smart-switch will shut off the phone's power supply and corresponding components to prevent any damage to your iPhone's delicate circuitry." The full ad also goes on to describe the iOS 7 which it refers to as the "foundation of iPhone, iPad and iPad touch."

Unfortunately, there were quite a few users who got tricked and decided to try iOS 7's alleged waterproofing feature. One user even vented out on Twitter and said: "wtf #iOS7 isn't waterproof!!! now my phones at the bottom of the river."
