Vampires and college are not typically synonymous, but anything’s possible in Mystic Falls. The worlds favorite vampires are returning to television next month as they’re introduced to a whole new world at Whitmore college. It’s a time for new opportunities, new friends, enemies and romance. It’s a pivotal moment in any teenager’s life that should be cherished and celebrated. It’s a time to succeed and expand horizons, and if fans know anything from previous seasons, the possibilities are limitless and more often than not end in drama, love and hate. It’s going to be spectacular.

As fans prepare for an epic fifth season, an array of details give fans a rather generous taste of what’s to come. And they confirm what was promised. It’s going to be spectacular.

The premiere episode reacquaint fans with their favorite characters and fills them in on their summer activities thanks to several back and forth emails between Bonnie and Elena, who has enjoyed her summer frolicking with Damon in every, single, way imaginable, TVLine reports. Her college dorm with Caroline by the way is ridiculously huge and elaborately decorated with large furniture and lavish ornaments, much like the ones many of us lived in during our freshman year on campus. Not.

Silas, now in the form of Stefan, whose actual self is boxed up at the bottom of a river, sets out on a very specific and terrorizing goal, which is no help whatsoever to Stefan. Poor guy. But he can’t stay locked up forever… hint.

Katherine, meanwhile, has not lost an ounce of spunk, despite her recent return to humanity. “I’m weak, and I’m slow,” she says. “Do you have any idea what it’s like to run in heels? I have blisters.”

Finally, what everyone has been waiting for: college parties. Unfortunately, the lovely vamp frosh won’t be getting in without invitation, but perhaps that’s for the best.

“The Vampire Diaries” returns to The CW October 3.
