Google announced the new Android 4.4 KitKat mobile operating system in early September but has refused to divulge any details concerning the new features or release time frame for the update. All that's known so far is that the Mountain View search giant has teamed up with Nestle for a confectionary marketing partnernship. Luckily, that partnership might have paid off for consumers, as Nestle might have leaked the official release date for Android 4.4. KitKat on Facebook.

The German KitKat Facebook page recently posted a picture promoting the crossover between Android and KitKat, and while nothing revealing came out of the post, a Nestle employee was caught responding to a question about when Android 4.4 KitKat would roll out.

For those who don't speak fluent German, Tim asked, "When will Android 4.4 KitKat arrive?" Kit Kat responded, "Android 4.4 KitKat will be available in October."

Of course, this isn't an official confirmation, and it should be noted that the October release date is coming from a Nestle employee, not Google. Still, the details line up nicely with other reports.

Google is rumored to be preparing a new Nexus 5 handset with LG for an October launch. Once again, nothing has been announced, but insiders from around the industry are all pointing to an Oct. 14 reveal date. This is also the day that most expect Google to take the wraps off Android 4.4 KitKat, launching it alongside the Nexus 5. Google has accompanied its major Android updates with a device rollout in the past, so if history holds true, it should be less than a month before Android 4.4 is finally unveiled.

Not much is known about what new features Android 4.4 will bring, but a spotting at an Intel developers conference hints the new operating system will support 64-bit processing, paving the way for more powerful Android smartphones.
