Although it’s frosty winds have begun to claw at our vulnerable morning skin, winter is still a season away. There’s still plenty of time to chop wood, replace the screen windows and rake the leaves. There’s no reason to rush into winter rituals, for once it arrives, it will overstay its welcome by several months. Winter is exciting. It’s something to look forward to, but the excitement never lasts. Skiing, snow ball fights, fires and hot cocoa give us reason to be cheerful. Long, cold rainy days in April are not. So while we look forward to the impending winter and all the new possibilities it will bring, take it all with a grain of salt.

For fans of the hit series “House of Lies,” this may prove more difficult. The show returns for its third season in January. Once again, it’s another reason to look forward to the frigid months, one that won’t necessarily fade as they drag on. Each week, new episodes will get viewers through the week as they plan their weekly schedules, keeping consistent with its allure and entertainment. And for those of you who simply cannot wait for the show to return, despite the blankets of pillowy snow (that in a mere day’s time will become filthy and unbearable) that will come along with it, a handful of details from production help calm the angst.

According to Deadline, the series recently tacked on several television heavyweights to the Season 3 cast. “Happy Endings” actress Eliza Coupe, “The Killing’s” Bex Taylor-Klaus, Rob Gleeson and Ryan Gaul will all star in recurring roles upon the show’s winter return. Coupe will play Marissa, a top employee at a wild Internet company and heir to a wealthy media family. Taylor-Klaus will take on the role of Lex, a tough genderqueer basketball player who connects with Marty’s son Roscoe. Gleeson will play a quiet and intense numbers guy, while Gaul’s role remains shrouded in secrecy.

“House of Lies” will return to Showtime January 12.
