"Game of Thrones" has proven to be both a critical success both as a book series and on TV, with millions of viewers tuning in to to HBO to see the latest adventures from the clans of Westeros. Now, one fan has decided to take his love of the series to a new level, creating an 8-bit platformer game for download.

Game of Thrones The 8 Bit Game (yes, that is the official title) was created by Abel Alves, a Spanish game designer. The game is available for free on the creator's website. Here's how Alves describes the game:

"Game of Thrones The 8 bit Game is a freeware classic 8 bit videogame inspired by the world of Game of Thrones. In this game you will play with 4 different characters of the TV show (and books, of course ), each one with different attacks and abilities, through 4 levels full of enemies and challenges, based on different parts of the saga."

The game looks very interesting, and includes many different settings and scenes that fans will appreciate. One level has users playing as Jon Snow as he climbs the monstrous wall, fighting wildlings along the way. Players will be able to use swords to ward off enemies, and Jon Snow can call his direwolf to deliver a special attack against foes. This area of the world of Westeros fits the platforming style of the game well, as the game's trailer shows Snow jumping between icy sections as foes close in. Other screenshots show Daenerys fighting off bald monks across the sea from Jon Snow, as well as players coming across Theon Greyjoy in the midst of his torture.

The game looks well put together, and is worth a download for those interested in "Game of Thrones" as well as those looking for a classic 8-bit platformer game to try out. In addition, the game uses a chiptune version of the "Game of Thrones" theme, which may be worth the download alone for many fans. The game is only 68MB, so the game is about the size of one music CD.

Those looking for a more big budget game involving Game of Thrones, players can check out two characters in voice acting roles for upcoming games. Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) will voice the AI companion in Bungie's Destiny, and Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) will voice Emperor of Nilfgaard in The Witcher 3.
