During an interview with People en Español, Mexican singer Paulina Rubio discussed her participation in the newest season of "The X Factor."

The "Golden Girl" said that she considers the project one of the most important of her career, defending her explosive personality and her posture as a judge.

"I think what will surprise (the American public) the most is that I've been a part of the music industry for so long; that I've been at the top of the charts for so many years; that I'm extroverted and not intimidated; that I'm very loyal to my feelings and to how I am... very authentic with myself," she told People en Español.

According to the magazine, Simon Cowell was responsible for inviting Rubio to be a judge in the show's new season, where she will give constructive criticism to contestants. She said that the news of her participation has become a "phenomenon in social networks" and that she has been very happy about it.

The singer said, "When Simon invited me, I was really excited. At first I was surprised... this is one of the biggest opportunities for my career and I'm excited to see how people have reacted to the news that I'll be participating."

She also shared that she didn't know Cowell's full professional trajectory prior to the show, but now that she's one of his fans. "We have a similar sense of humor. We're both very sarcastic. But I also like his point of view that sometimes he's bratty, but fair, and that's why people like him," Rubio said.

Rubio also said that one of the hardest parts of being a judge on "The X Factor" is "talking with your heart on your hand and tell them they have no talent." She added that one of her favorite parts is choosing songs, "When we discover what kind of artist they want to be and the music genre they want to sing. I want to offer them direction, my opinion and inspire them to discover themselves through music."

People en Español reported that besides the Golden Girl, the show will feature Demi Lovato, who Paulina said "is very dedicated to her world, like me; very beautiful, brilliant... I adore her. She's wonderful. We share so many things, we talk about music, art, love, friendships, life and the music industry.

The third season of "The X Factor" will air Wednesdays and Thursdays in September at 8 p.m. on Fox.
